Dallas Notes: No Longer Alone with God as Jesus in the Eternal Kingdom -- NOW (Renovare Conference, 2005)

No Longer Alone with God as Jesus in the Eternal Kingdom -- NOW
Renovare International Conference 2005

God is so great and vast that we can only hide from Him if He hides from us
God extended to Adam in the Garden the privilege of hiding. 'Where are you?'
the aim is to allow people to come to the place where they can seek God and find Him (and He actually finds us if we seek Him with all our heart).
prayer fits in here v. theological conclusions and speculations about prayer. prayer is one of the first steps in growth in the KoG.

[it's relational. it's like when we ask our young children questions we know the answers to. or we might know the facts but we want to know hear their perspective and take and we want to relate to one another in that way. this part, too, of course, is true with adult relationships. they rarely center on exchanging information.]

prayer is talking to God about what He and I are doing together. God wants to know what i want to happen. and He wants to know what i really want to happen. he doesn't pay much attention to dive bombing prayer. cf the widow and the unjust judge. God wants to know if we have some alternatives in mind. He will let us stay with a request sometimes in order to work that out of our system.

sometimes He wants to know how badly we want something

the eyes of the Lord run to and fro over the whole earth to show himself strong on the behalf of those whose hearts are perfectly set on him 2 Chr 16.9

praying is learning how to live in the KoG
